(Sample language)

“I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, a non-profit corporation organized and operating under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the sum of $______ [or percentage of your estate or specific description of the gift] to be used by PENN Medicine [describe purpose of gift here, if desired].”

We suggest including the following language in all wills and living trusts, if you have retirement accounts, savings bonds, or other assets subject to income tax at your death:

“I instruct that all of my charitable gifts, bequests and devises shall be made, to the extent possible, from property that constitutes “income in respect of a decedent” as that term is defined by the Internal Revenue Code and the laws of my home state.”
